The ZeroBadge system

One badge records the shift, the jobsite and the drive between.

Every worker wears a rugged badge the company issues. It records the shift and the time at each site, indoors and out. The office sees every crew live and gets a payroll-ready week. No phones involved.

  • Badge on starts the shift

One press starts the shift. Power off ends it.

  • Clipped on, not carried

Clips to a belt or pocket. No screen, no app, no phone.

  • Knows which jobsite

GPS outdoors, Wi-Fi indoors, cellular in between.

  • Reports on its own

Sends activity about every five minutes over its own connection.

What ZeroBadge covers

The same cellular badge that looks out for a worker also captures the data that keeps your jobs on time and on budget.

Construction crews, field service technicians, utility and oilfield crews, cleaning and security teams: every worker wears one company badge, and the office gets safety alerts, verified hours, labor analytics and ZeroBadge AI from the same record.

The badge

Issued by the company. Worn by the worker.

Hand it out like a radio. The worker clips it on and gets to work. The office assigns and swaps badges from the dashboard, and nothing depends on a personal phone.

Specification

  • Its own cellular connection

Each badge carries its own connection. It never borrows a worker's phone, data plan or the site's Wi-Fi password.

  • Indoor and outdoor location

Satellite positioning in the open, Wi-Fi recognition inside buildings, cellular continuity between them.

  • Managed by the company

Badges belong to the company. The office assigns, swaps and retires them from the dashboard.

  • No employee phone

No app to install, no permissions to approve, no personal device on the record.

  • Moves between jobsites

The badge moves with the worker. Opening a new site means drawing a geofence, not mounting hardware.

  • Belt or pocket clip

A spring-steel clip holds it on a belt, pocket or harness strap for the whole shift.

  • Battery per charge

Indoor & outdoor location

Know which jobsite a worker is on, even inside the building.

Satellites in the open, Wi-Fi inside, cellular on the road. Every reading is stored with its method and a confidence level, so the office can tell a GPS fix from an estimate.

How payroll integration works

Badge fleet

Assign and swap badges from the office.

No site survey, no installers. Badges register themselves and the office does the rest.

  1. 01

It registers itself at first power-on

A new badge appears in the fleet console the first time it is switched on, with its own asset ID.

  2. 02

    Assign it to a worker

Pick the worker in the dashboard. Time recorded before an assignment is never attributed to them.

  3. 03

    Reassign or replace

Move a badge to a new hire, swap in a replacement, or mark one lost and see its last reported location.

  4. 04

Battery and signal for every badge

Battery, signal and last report for every badge, with low-battery alerts and remote commands such as ping and restart.

How the data is protected

Security overview
  • Encrypted in transit

Traffic between badges, the platform and your team's browsers is encrypted.

  • Tenant isolation

Row-level security on every table walls each company's data off.

  • Multi-factor authentication

    MFA for administrators.

  • Role-based access

Admin, supervisor and worker each see what their role allows.

  • Audit log

Record access and edits are logged.

  • 90-day raw location deletion

Raw location history is deleted after 90 days. Timesheets are kept.

FAQ

What crews and the office ask about the badge.

More answers on the FAQ page.

What does a worker actually do each day?
Power the badge on at the start of paid work, wear it on a belt or pocket clip, and power it off at the end of the shift. ZeroBadge records the shift and the time at each site automatically. There is no app to open and nothing to tap during the day.
How often do badges need charging?
Badges charge on a routine, not every night. Powered off between shifts and reporting about every five minutes, one charge lasts a month or more under qualifying conditions; reporting frequency, signal, usage and configuration all change that. Battery level is visible for every badge, and a low-battery alert fires at 25% by default.
What happens when the badge loses signal?
The shift stays open and the badge stores its reports. When coverage returns, the stored reports upload with their original times and the day fills in automatically. ZeroBadge is designed for typical connected site environments, not offshore or extremely remote sites without cellular coverage.
What if a badge is lost, or a worker leaves?
Mark the badge lost and see its last reported location, or reassign it to another worker from the dashboard. A replacement badge takes over the assignment, and time recorded before any reassignment always stays with the worker who wore the badge.
Who can see workforce information?
Access is role-based. Administrators see the whole company, supervisors see their assigned sites, and workers see only their own hours in the optional portal. Each company's data is isolated at the database level, administrators can use multi-factor authentication, and record access and edits are written to an audit log.
What changes when a crew moves to a new jobsite?
Add the site in the dashboard: type the address and ZeroBadge draws an editable geofence around it. There is nothing to install at the site. Workers keep the same badge, and a move between sites during a shift stays one timesheet, with time allocated to each site.
