About ZeroBadge
ZeroBadge is a workforce platform for construction and other field crews. Workers wear company-issued cellular badges that record each shift and the time spent at each jobsite. The office reviews weekly timesheets, approves them, and sends approved hours to its payroll provider. Workers need no phone, and nothing is installed on site.

What is ZeroBadge?
ZeroBadge is an AI-powered workforce platform for construction and field service crews. Company-issued cellular badges record each worker's shift and time at each jobsite, raise safety alerts, and feed weekly timesheets, labor analytics and ZeroBadge AI. Approved hours go to payroll. No employee phones and no on-site hardware.
A worker carries nothing but the badge. The platform is what the office uses: crews, jobsites, timesheets, exceptions and approvals. The platform page walks through it screen by screen.
Why does ZeroBadge exist?
ZeroBadge exists because the usual ways of recording field hours break down on real jobsites. Paper timesheets get filled in from memory at the end of the week. Phone apps depend on every worker owning a phone, keeping it charged, opening the app and granting it permissions. Both leave the office rebuilding the week by hand before payroll.
Crews make this harder than an office does. A journeyman can start the morning at the shop, work a rough-in at one site, make a supply house run and finish at a second site. A single clock-in does not describe that day, and a worker who forgot to tap a screen cannot fix it later.
So the badge records the shift without asking the worker to do anything. Power on starts it, power off ends it, and the platform splits the time by jobsite. The office reviews exceptions instead of typing the whole week. See replacing paper timesheets and time tracking without phones for how that works in practice.
What does ZeroBadge do, and what does it not do?
ZeroBadge records shifts and jobsite time, builds weekly timesheets and sends approved hours to your payroll provider. It does not run payroll, and it is not a legal system of record. In our own words:
| ZeroBadge does | ZeroBadge does not |
|---|---|
| Record each shift from power-on to power-off | Run payroll or file payroll reports |
| Classify time as on site, in transit or other, and allocate it to a jobsite | Tell you which room a worker is in |
| Build weekly timesheets, with an exceptions list and an audit trail for corrections | Silently edit any record |
| Send approved hours to your payroll provider, with CSV, Excel and PDF export | Replace your payroll provider |
| Work with no worker phone, app or login | Fit retail shifts, office teams or work far outside cellular coverage |
Location and time information are estimates, and every reading stores the method that produced it and a confidence level. That is why the office reviews and approves each week before anything goes to payroll.
Who is ZeroBadge built for?
ZeroBadge is built first for commercial construction crews that move between jobsites, the shop and supply houses. It also fits other multi-site field crews, where the work is at sites and not at desks.
- Built first for
- General and specialty contractors with crews across several jobsites, the shop and the supply house.
- Also a fit for
- Oil and gas, utilities and energy, field services, commercial cleaning, security guard companies, restoration, facility maintenance, commercial landscaping, staffing agencies, and contractors working inside manufacturing plants and warehouses.
- Not designed for
- Retail shifts, office teams, fixed-shift factory employees who clock in at one building, or work far outside cellular coverage.
The industries page lists who it fits in more detail.
How does ZeroBadge handle workers' privacy?
ZeroBadge tracks time and location only during paid shifts, on company-owned badges that are powered off between shifts. It is not built to watch anyone's personal life, and the badge is not carried home as a personal device.
- The badge is company-issued and company-managed. Workers do not install anything on a personal phone.
- The badge has its own cellular connection. It never uses the worker's phone, data plan or the site's Wi-Fi password.
- Raw location history is deleted after 90 days. Timesheets are kept.
- An optional worker web portal lets each worker see their own hours, request corrections and record time off.
The full wording is in the privacy policy and the terms of service.
What security commitments does ZeroBadge make?
ZeroBadge encrypts data in transit, isolates each company's data from every other company with row-level security, and requires multi-factor authentication for admins. Access is role-based, with admin, supervisor and worker roles, and an audit log records activity.
Details, and the open items we track, are on the security page.
