Jobsite attendance tracking

Jobsite attendance tracking without a sign-in sheet.

Jobsite attendance tracking answers who is on each site today and whether that matches the schedule. ZeroBadge builds it from the badge record: a live headcount by jobsite, each worker's arrival and departure against the work hours you set, and approved time off left out of the count. The sign-in sheet at the trailer is no longer the source.

  • Headcount by jobsite, ask ZeroBadge AI
  • Late starts and missed days flagged
  • Approved time off excluded

Counts are distinct workers with badge-recorded time at the site that day.

A Tuesday across three locations

Scheduled, present and the reason for every gap.

Work hours are set per worker, so the system knows who should have been where. This is the picture a superintendent gets at 7:15 AM and again at the end of the day.

  • Riverside TI

    Scheduled and on site

    9 scheduled, 7 on site at 7:15, 8 by 7:41

    Why the gap

One journeyman on approved time off, so he is left out and nobody is marked missing. One apprentice powered on at 7:41, a late start of 41 minutes on a 7:00 crew.

  • Elm Street warehouse

    Scheduled and on site

    6 scheduled, 6 on site at 7:00

    Why the gap

None at the start. At 1:30 PM two leave against a 3:30 PM end, which lists as two early finishes for the supervisor.

  • The shop

    Scheduled and on site

    3 scheduled, 2 on site

    Why the gap

One worker with no time off recorded and no badge reading all day. That is a missed day and it goes on the exceptions list.

Headcount here counts badges reporting from inside the drawn location. A badge left in a truck still counts as being there, so a surprising number is a prompt to look, not a verdict.

Headcount by site

Daily crew counts, and the move you did not have to ask about.

Each jobsite shows how many people were there each day, and how that compares with the same day last week. When three workers shift from the finishing job to the one that is behind, the counts show it the first morning.

The foreman who sent them does not have to phone it in, and the project manager is not working from Friday's recollection of Tuesday. For the hours behind the heads, see multi-jobsite time tracking.

Four ways to know who showed up

Attendance records are only as good as who has to fill them in.

The tradeoff

A gate with a reader is a good answer for a single walled project with one way in. Most commercial jobs have an open perimeter, a trailer that moves and crews that leave for supplies, which is where a sheet falls behind.

Attendance against schedule

What gets flagged, and what deliberately does not.

The point is to show a supervisor what needs a conversation, not to build a case against anyone.

  • Late start

Power-on after the worker's scheduled start. A grace period applies, so a few minutes past the start is not treated as late.

  • Early finish

Power-off, or the last reading at a site, well before the scheduled end.

  • Missed day

A scheduled workday with no shift at all and no time off recorded.

  • Approved time off

Recorded by the worker in the optional web portal or by the office. A day covered by time off is excluded, so it is never counted as absent.

  • No hours set

If you have not set work hours for a worker, ZeroBadge can show presence but not lateness. Set the schedule and the comparison begins.

  • Time outside approved sites

Minutes while the badge was outside every location you drew are flagged as a separate item, apart from lateness.

What a GC or owner asks a sub for

Four requests, and where each answer comes from.

  • How many of your people were on site last Thursday?

    What you hand over

A headcount for that day at that jobsite.

    Where it comes from

    Daily crew counts by jobsite.

  • Who exactly was on the job, and for how long?

    What you hand over

    Worker, day, jobsite and hours.

    Where it comes from

The weekly timesheet, exported as CSV, Excel or PDF.

  • Why was the crew short on Tuesday?

    What you hand over

The late starts, missed days and time off behind the number.

    Where it comes from

The attendance exceptions for that day.

  • Can we have the manpower numbers weekly?

    What you hand over

A recurring count and hours by site.

    Where it comes from

    See manpower reports.

ZeroBadge aids certified payroll reporting by supplying verified hours by worker, day and jobsite. It does not produce or file certified payroll on its own; final certified payroll reports require review by a qualified person.

What this is not

Attendance from a badge shows where the badge was, not what the person was doing.

A badge left in a truck cab counts as on site, and nothing here measures effort. Use the numbers to find days worth asking about. The tracking runs during paid shifts on company-owned badges, powered off between them.

ZeroBadge AI

Ask ZeroBadge AI who showed up

Skip the sign-in sheet and ask. ZeroBadge AI answers attendance questions from the badge records, leaves approved time off out of every count and links each number to the days behind it. It is read-only and admin-controlled.

  • You ask

How many people were on each site Monday, and who was missing?

Elm Street 14 of 15 scheduled, Harbor Road 8 of 8 and Pine Ridge 5 of 6. The two missing workers have no badge shift and no approved time off for Monday.

  • You ask

Who has missed two or more scheduled days this month?

Two workers, with 3 and 2 missed days and no time off recorded. Days covered by approved time off are not counted.

  • You ask

Who started late at Harbor Road this week?

Five workers started more than 5 minutes late at least once, 6 starts in all. The longest was 22 minutes on Wednesday.

Answers come only from your company's own records. Every number links to the records behind it. Read-only; admins control access.

How ZeroBadge AI works

Questions

Questions about jobsite attendance tracking.

How do you track attendance at a construction site?
Record where each worker is during the shift instead of asking them to sign in. ZeroBadge does that from the badge, so each jobsite shows a live headcount and each worker's arrival and departure are compared with the work hours you set.
Can I see who is on site right now?
Yes. The live view shows each badge's latest location against your drawn jobsites, with a count per site. A badge shows as reporting from the site it is in, not as a name tied to a room.
How do late starts and missed days get flagged?
Each worker can have scheduled work hours and workdays. A power-on after the start, an early finish or a scheduled day with no shift is flagged. A grace period applies to late starts.
Is approved time off counted as absence?
No. Time off recorded in the worker portal, or by the office, is excluded, so a day off is never reported as a missed day.
What does a GC or owner usually ask for?
Daily headcount by site, hours by worker and day, and an explanation for any short day. The first comes from daily crew counts, the second from the timesheet export. See manpower reports.
Is jobsite attendance tracking the same as time tracking?
They share a record but answer different questions. Time tracking asks how many hours were worked and where. Attendance asks who was there and whether it matched the plan. See time tracking for field crews.
