Glazing contractor time tracking
Glazing contractor time tracking from the shop floor to the setting day.
Glazing contractor time tracking has to follow one job through the shop, where frames are cut and unitized panels are assembled and glazed, and onto the building, where crews set units from a crane or a lift. ZeroBadge records both from a company-managed badge. The shop is one location and each building another, so shop hours, field hours and the waits on a delivery day show up as separate stretches on each job.
- Shop and field hours kept apart
- Standby on delivery days on record
- One month or more of battery life*
*Under qualifying operating conditions. Battery life varies with reporting frequency, signal conditions, usage, and configuration.

What ZeroBadge does for you
How ZeroBadge helps glazing contractors
One company badge per worker covers safety alerts, timekeeping, labor analytics and ZeroBadge AI. Here is what each part does in your line of work.
01
Worker safety
A glazier setting units can press the alert button, and the office sees which building raised it, with restricted areas around hoisting zones you draw.
Learn more02
Workforce management
See which crews are in the shop and which are at a building today, and notice a setting crew that has not arrived.
Learn more03
Automated timekeeping
Shop assembly and field setting are separate drawn locations, so badge on starts the day and each is recorded as its own hours.
Learn more04
Workforce productivity
Compare hours per unit set against the estimate for each job, and see what a late truck or a crane booking cost in standby.
Learn more05
Location analytics
GPS outdoors places each crew at the building and the shop, while the badge never claims an elevation or a floor.
Learn more06
Field logistics
Move crews between shop and field using recorded hours, so a setting day without glass becomes shop time instead of standby.
Learn more07
AI advisory and analytics
Ask ZeroBadge AI how many hours crews waited on site for a delivery, and the answer links to the recorded days.

Safety alerts support your safety program. They do not replace supervision or training, ZeroBadge does not monitor alerts or contact 911, and in an emergency workers should call 911.
Where glazing hours hide
A curtain wall job is built in the shop and won or lost on the setting days.
Glazing labor is usually estimated per unit, per lite or per linear foot of storefront. The timesheets that come back are a week of field hours with the shop and the waiting folded in.
Shop assembly charged to the install
Unitized panels are framed, glazed and sealed in the shop weeks before they are set. When those hours go on the setting crew's sheet, the field looks slow and the shop looks like it had nothing to do.
A crane booked and a truck that's late
The crane and a six-person crew are ready at 7 AM. The panels arrive at 10:15. Three hours of standby for the whole crew is paid labor, and on the sheet it is just a short day of setting.
Broken or wrong-size lites
A cracked IGU or a lite cut to the wrong size means a reorder, a second trip and a second setting day. That return visit costs real hours and usually has no line of its own.
Storefront and curtain wall on one line
Stick-built storefront at grade and unitized wall above it use different crews and different labor per foot. A single job total can't tell you which one ran over.
Sealant, water tests and the end of the job
Perimeter caulk, a field water test and glass replacement after another contractor's lift hits a lite all happen after the main install. The hours trickle in over weeks.
The shop and the building, one job
Shop days stay at the shop. Setting days stay at the building.
Draw the glass shop as an office-type location and each building as a jobsite. A glazier who cuts frames on Monday, glazes units Tuesday and sets them Thursday carries all three days on one timesheet, with the shop and the building already separated. The drive with a trailer of storefront is recorded as transit.
The badge knows a person was at the shop and for how long. It does not know which job's frames were on the saw. Your shop tickets or work orders name the job; the badge gives the shop total they should add up to.

Phases and cost codes
How a glazing job breaks down, and where the record fits.
The badge places a crew at a building, not on an elevation or a floor. Phases come from dates and the foreman's counts, which glazing foremen already keep for unit tracking.
Shop fabrication and assembly
Cutting, machining, frame assembly and glazing of units. All of it shows as shop hours, which you can compare with your shop tickets for the same dates.
Setting days
Divide a day's recorded crew hours at the building by the units your foreman reports set that day. That is the number to compare with your per-unit estimate.
Storefront at grade
If a different crew runs storefront while another sets curtain wall above, each crew's hours stay with each person. Note which crew ran which scope and the split follows.
Sealant, testing and punch
Perimeter caulk, a field water test and the final punch walk land on the dates they happen, at the building, so the cost of closing out the job is visible instead of drifting into overhead.
Glass supplier and laydown yard
A run to the glass supplier for a replacement lite is a stop at a location you draw. An off-site laydown yard can be drawn too, so staging hours are not mistaken for setting hours.
Payroll wrinkles
Early crane starts, shop and field rates, and out-of-town jobs.
Early starts for a crane window
A crew that starts at 5:30 AM to use a crane before the street opens shows that start time on the record, so any overtime or early-start rule your company follows has the real hours behind it.
Shop rate and field rate
If your agreement or your own policy pays shop and field work differently, every hour carries its location and reaches payroll separated. Your payroll provider applies the rates.
Out-of-town jobs
Travel days to a project in another city are recorded as transit, separate from the setting days. Per diem and lodging stay in your own expense process.
Public buildings
Schools, courthouses and other public jobs often carry prevailing wage rules. See public works contractors for how hours by contract and by day support that work.
Why phones fail a glazing crew
Suction cups, a lite on the cart and a boom basket.
Both hands on the glass
Carrying a lite takes both hands and usually two people. Nobody puts down a pane of glass to punch in.
Gloves made for edges
Cut-resistant gloves stay on most of the day. A touchscreen punch through them is a chore, and the foreman ends up punching for the crew from memory.
Outside the building, up high
Setting from a swing stage or a boom basket is a poor place for a phone. The badge is turned on at the start of the shift and left alone, and GPS works well outdoors on an open facade.

ZeroBadge AI
Ask about shop and field days
ZeroBadge AI answers in plain English from your own badge records, with each number linking to the days it was counted from.
You ask
How many hours did the Bayview storefront crew record on site on Tuesday and Wednesday?
Four glaziers recorded 22 hours on site across the two days. Set against the units your foreman set, that shows what the late truck cost. Each day links to its records.
You ask
What was the split of shop and field hours on the Union Square curtain wall?
Union Square has 640 shop hours and 380 field hours against an estimate of 600 and 420. The split links to weekly timesheets.
You ask
How many crew hours did the Bayview job record each day last week?
Bayview recorded 44, 52, 22, 22 and 48 crew hours Monday to Friday. Set against your foreman's unit counts, the daily figures show hours per unit.
Answers come only from your company's own records. Every number links to the records behind it. Read-only; admins control access.
How ZeroBadge AI worksQuestions
Questions glazing contractors ask.
How do glazing contractors track standby time on delivery days?
Can it separate shop assembly from field installation?
Does it know which elevation or floor a crew was setting?
What about return trips to replace a broken lite?
Do we install anything at the building?
