A ClockShark alternative when nobody should have to punch
If you want an app with scheduling, job and task tracking, and the option of a foreman or shared kiosk clocking in the crew, ClockShark fits. If you would rather no one has to remember a punch, consider ZeroBadge. Each worker wears a company badge that starts the shift at power on and reports through the day, so the timesheet builds from where the badge was rather than from taps.

What ClockShark does well
ClockShark is a time tracking and scheduling app for construction and field service businesses. Its site lists cleaning, electrical, painting, landscaping, roofing and facility management among the industries it serves.
- Scheduling by drag and drop. Managers build schedules, assign jobs and tasks, and move work around by dragging.
- Job and task detail. ClockShark says you know which jobs and tasks the team worked on and for how long.
- Field files. Photos, files and job notes can be shared between the office and the field as attachments.
- Works without signal. ClockShark says the app tracks time offline and syncs when devices reconnect.
- Hands-on support. It lists phone support Monday to Friday, 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific, including during the trial.
How ClockShark captures time
ClockShark records a punch through one of three paths, and each puts the job of punching on a different person. Geofences around jobsites remind workers to clock in when they arrive and clock out when they leave; the worker still confirms the punch.
| Method | Who has to act | What it needs | What goes wrong |
|---|---|---|---|
| ClockShark mobile app | Each worker taps clock in and out | A phone per worker with the app | A missed tap or a phone left in the truck |
| ClockShark Crew Clock | One person tracks time for the whole crew from a single phone | The foreman's phone | Everyone's hours depend on one person remembering |
| ClockShark Kiosk Clock | Each worker enters a 4-digit PIN with facial recognition | A shared device at the site | Workers who start at a different site cannot reach it |
| ZeroBadge badge | Each worker powers the badge on and off | A company badge per worker; nothing at the site | A badge left uncharged; the office sees battery per badge |
Where ZeroBadge differs from ClockShark
ClockShark's record is a series of punches, with location attached. ZeroBadge's record is the shift itself: the badge reports about every 5 minutes, and each reading stores its method (GPS outdoors, Wi-Fi positioning indoors, cellular continuity marked low confidence).
- A site change needs no new punch. When a crew leaves one jobsite for another at noon, ZeroBadge closes the first site's time and opens the second inside the same shift.
- No foreman bottleneck. Crew Clock works well until the foreman is out sick or on another site. With a badge, each worker's hours stand on their own.
- Corrections leave a trail. A changed entry in ZeroBadge keeps its audit trail, and the approved weekly PDF is kept as an unchangeable version.
- Less in the box. ZeroBadge does not schedule jobs, assign tasks or carry job photos. If you rely on those, ClockShark covers more ground.
